Northgate

When: built circa 1970-1972.

Where: Garside Cresent/Court, Glebe Cresent (parts), Goldcrest Road (parts), Gable Place, Goodwood Road.

Who: Bramalea Consolidated Developments Limited.

What I Know: The Sweetheart Homes shown in a previous post (https://bramaleablog.wordpress.com/2013/11/23/sweetheart-homes/) are intermixed with these plans on certain streets.

A few of the detached plans are updated versions of those built in Southgate Village in the D- and E-Sections (and some plans in Westgate Village in the B-Section): Journey’s End = Copenhagen, Mayfiar Mews = Carnaby, Country Regent = Stevenson, Richmond = Osaka.

According to the site plan/price lists, it appears that I am missing a few plans from my collection. Semi-detached: Maui, Viking, Florence. Detached: Kingston, Eldorado, Oakland. If  you have them, please let me know as I would like to post them!

There were many different advertisements for this community…so the floor plans are way down near the bottom of the posting!

Notice how only 50% of the wife’s salary was used to qualify for a N.H.A. mortgage…an example of some of the gender discrimination common at the time.
